wire tapping

let me ask a question...if you are a terrorist(given the nature of your business)is it not a fair assumption that you probably have some suspicion of being wire tapped? then who exactly is the government spying on? they want you to believe that you are giving up your freedoms to be safe but that is giving away a lot of power to an already powerful entity. you also assume that our government will not abuse that power and that it has our best interest at heart. history does not support this naive view. let's review. our government introduced cocaine into all black, inner city areas in the hopes that blacks would destroy themselves. our government injected syphilis into black airmen. our government incarcerated millions of united states' citizens during world war two. our government marched unsuspecting united states soldiers out to ground zero during repeated atomic tests in order to evaluate the psychological and physical effects of radiation exposure. at the very least, most of the men became sterile. our government ignored the right of free speech and put hollywood on trial during the dark years of the mccarthy era. it also imprisoned countless others for being members of the communist party, even though there was no law against being a member of the communist party. i could go on but hopefully the point has been made. our government does not have a good tract record. no government has a good tract record. that is why the founding fathers built in the system of checks and balances that the bush administration is quickly doing away with and with the help of the democrats, since they helped vote in his wire tapping expansion bill. clinton and obama were too busy prostrating themselves before delegates to even vote on such an important issue. they also failed to vote on the water boarding ban, which thank god passed. mccain voted against that ban. i find that disturbing since he spent years being tortured at hanoi hilton. i can write about this all day every day for the rest of my life and it won't do a bit of good unlees we as citizens take action. you have got to flood those in elected office and tell them that you disagree. they work for you, unless in your silence, you give them room to work for whoever takes an interest. this is your country!! take it back.

the art of lies

huckabee was quoted as saying that he has not nor will he allow his faith to conflict with upholding the constitution. hmm. he also made the statement that the constitution should be made to reflect the beliefs of the bible. that seems a bit in conflict with the first statement and it does pose an interesting question...whose interpretation of the bible? are you more of an old testament stone the sinner angry god type or a turn the other cheek soft spoken jesus kind of christian? hmm. just asking. the constitution does not say that marriage is between a man and a woman. it makes no mention of it at all. huckabee as likened homosexuality to pedophilia and called for the sanctity of marriage to be preserved as a heterosexual privilage. that is a faith based unconstitutionally motivated belief that allows tax paying citizens not to be treated equally just because they prefer the same sex. i write this because it is a very real possibility that if mccain gets the nomination, he will choose huckabee as his running mate. it is no secret that mccain is not the darling of the religious right and huckabee would help reel in that voting bloc. i find this disturbing because i am not sure that the democrats have a candidate that can beat that team. so i hope to god that we turn out in force come election day and take back this country from the so called moral majority(that is anything but moral...david vitter)who have damn near run this nation into the ground. how dare they cry god as though they have a direct phone line to heaven. what arrogance to say that god made you president...hey bush, did he say that before or after you stopped drinking and doing lines of coke? how disgusting it is for them to call our patriotism into question when we dare to speak out against this pathetic war, torture, or domestic spying. i, we speak out because we love this country. we are the true patriots. any idiot can fly the flag. look around, there are plenty of them doing it for god and country. so let's take this motherfucking country back and the worried world heave a sigh of relief.

state of disunion

bastard boy was at it again last night with his ridiculous rhetoric, endless repetitions, and inability to actually say anything. yes, mr. bush, we are indeed fighting terrorism in iraq but it is terrorism that we helped foster by invading the country and managing to piss off the entire muslim world. terrorists from all over the globe now pour into iraq to fight what they see as a holy war thanks to our unprovoked attack, accomplished by a steady diet of lies fed to the american people in order to fatten them up for the slaughter and speaking of slaughter, how many americans have died there? get us out! let's talk about the tanking economy because it keeps us from talking about the war and neither the democrats nor the republicans want to talk about the war. the democrats hate being reminded that they voted for it and since taking office have failed miserably to grow some balls and act decisively. pony the fuck up! and good old george will not be happy until iraq is our next state but i guess that would solve our energy crisis for the time being since we are like a junkie with the oil needle jammed up our arm. yes folks, we are in iraq until hell freezes over but take heart because that is unlikely to happen with global warming! shrub was again pushing the wire tapping proposal...allow your government to spy on you and erode your freedoms to keep you safe from terrorism. hmm, that is the very definition of terror boys and girls. wake up! make some noise befor we are all doing forced jumping jacks in front of the big brother screen. but i must say that the highlight of last night was bush signing autographs like some damn rock star. i guess in the world of fascism, he is something to behold. so get that right arm up...heil bush. spoke the cat says fuck that shit!

bhutto

they have assassinated bhutto and i find it appalling that the head line of her death on yahoo shared space with the fact that paris hilton won't get all her money. my god! why is paris hilton news worthy? it is a sad day that american girls look to the likes of paris for their role models but have no idea who bhutto is. you want a real role model, try the first female leader of an islamic nation, who despite the danger returned to pakistan because she believed in something larger than her self. she spent five years in a prison and you can be assured that it had nothing to do with drunk driving. she dedicated her life to a cause that she believed in and that in part was giving a voice to the disenfranchised and especially to women facing terrible day to day challenges in a muslim world. she was an inspiration. a light has gone out and tonight the world is a little darker.

housing project

they are actually having trouble knocking the buildings down in b.w. cooper and all i have to say is that there is no way they are going to erect anything as sturdy as those structures.

housing projects

i talked with a friend the other day who said that she couldn't see the beauty of the buildings, only rape, poverty, child abuse, drugs, and other crime. well i can't exactly argue that fact when housing projects have been a failed experiment. yet, i don't think the buildings are to blame. i believe in mixed income housing and roads cutting through so that we alleviate the stigma of walling off parts of our society as though being poor is something unsavory but you can do that with the existing buildings. we are in the worst housing crisis since the civil war and everyday our homeless population swells and yet we have structurally sound buildings to quickly rehabilitate and move people inside. it will cost 762 million in taxpayer funds to tear down over 4600 units and replace them with them with 744 units. do the math. there is a disparity there. it is an 82 percent reduction and yet they say they want all our citizens to return. bullshit. in addition they plan to build a 1,000 market rate and tax credit units, which is still a loss of 2700 apartments. these additional buildings will cost over 400,000 each. architects have inspected the existing structures and said that the damage to them is over rated. so start moving people back in while you rehabilitate others. i am all for renovating the structures and implementing mixed income housing but it can be done with the existing structures. cut roads through and bring back police presence via patrol cars and beat cops. it is almost christmas for christ's sake...give the poor some place to live. get them out of the tents and from under the over pass. give them hope. you know i think what we fail to recognize is that these are not just slums, they are the homes of many and just like our homes, they are full of memories. a child's first birthday. the smell of ya mama's stuffed peppers.candle lit dinners. must we continue to punish the poor for being poor, disenfranchising them, deciding things for them and telling them they will be happier in the long run as though they are children? will they see fit to rip down all the trees too, just like they did in st. thomas? make some noise! get out there on the protest lines. do not let them take our city and make it in the image of houston or atlanta. we have soul, so feel it. dust off your compassion. move to action and while you are at it, elect me supreme ruler of the universe. i will make mondays silly walk days, and anyone caught not walking silly will be forced to watch marathon bouts of monty python in clown shoes. because it is my belief that it is hard to take yourself so damn seriously when you are being silly and god help us, but we all take ourselves too seriously. spoke, supreme ruler of the universe...yeh i like the sound of that!
